Police Headquarters wishes
to give a situation report following the shooting incident
involving TOM PATRICK GILBERT CHOLMONDELEY at his Delamere
Farm in Gilgil on 11th May 2006.
Police are investigating the incident which is being
treated as murder. The rifle allegedly used in the shooting
has since been seized for ballistic tests as part of
the investigations.
In addition, Police Headquarters wishes to inform the
public that following the shooting to death of Kenya
Wildlife Services game ranger, Samson ole Sisina on
19th April 2005, his personal firearm license was withdrawn
and two firearms seized by Naivasha CID.
However, the firearms with temporary permits for the
use of his security staff to protect the vast farm were
not affected.
We are appealing to members of the public to remain
calm and avoid speculation as our officers continue
to investigate this tragic incident. We are also inviting
those with information that can help in the investigations
to come forward and share it with the investigating
officers. Police Headquarters, in this regard, gives
assurance that all information received will be treated
with utmost confidentiality.
In the meantime, the Commissioner of Police has cancelled
the firearms licenses issued to TOM PATRICK GILBERT
CHOLMONDELEY and his father. The Chief Licensing officer,
Central Firearms Bureau has seized all the firearms.
