| The
Commissioner of Police Maj. Gen. Mohamed Hussein Ali,
will join other top law enforcement officers and experts
from around the world attending the 75th General Assembly
of ICPO-Interpol at the Copacabana Fort, Rio de Janeiro,
from 19 - 22 September 2006.
The main focus of the meeting will
be “Combating international crime and terrorism”.
The AGM will address the following
topics: -
• The sexual exploitation and trafficking of children
• Drug smuggling,
• Cyber-crime,
The General Assembly will also address
the success and expansion of Interpol’s databases,
including the data base on stolen and lost travel documents.
In addition, Delegates will review
a proposal for the establishment of the Interpol Anti-Corruption
Academy, and receive an update on increased co-operation
with the United Nations and other international organizations.
Interpol President, Jackie Selebi,
and senior Brazilian Government officials will grace
the official opening scheduled to begin at 10.30 am
on Tuesday, 19 September.
Maj. Gen. Ali left last night from
Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyata International Airport.
