The Commissioner of Police invites you to cover the
ground-breaking ceremony of a new housing project for
police officers at the Kayole Police Station on Tuesday
15th August 2006 from 10.00 am.
In support of police reforms, the Government approved
the construction of 27,000 housing units for the Kenya
Police to be completed in three years. Towards achieving
this, 240 housing units and one office block will be
put up in Nairobi during this first phase. These projects
are part of the implementation of the Kenya Police Strategic
Plan for 2004-2008. The sites to covered are: -
• Kayole Police Division - one Administration
Block and 24 housing units
• Kamukunji Police Station - 48 units
• Central Police Station - 48 units
• Dandora Police Station - 24 units
• Pangani Police Station - 24 units
• Kabete Police Station - 24 units
• Kiamumbi Police Station - 24 units
• Industrial Area Police lines -24 units
To address a glaring shortage of housing and serious
congestion in police lines, the Government began by
renovating existing quarters and stalled projects as
well as leasing available accommodation for the police
last year.
This was followed by the purchase of already constructed
housing projects. The Kenya Police Force is now embarking
on its long term solution to the housing shortage through
the construction of new housing units.
