DEALING WITH CORRUPTION ON OUR ROADS

The Kenya Police has embarked on a series of sting operations to eradicate corruption on our roads.

To achieve this, undercover detectives have already been deployed to all the eight provinces in hired PSV and private vehicles with instructions to take immediate action against any motorist or traffic police officer who engages in corruption.

The operation does not target anybody, but seeks to ensure the enforcement of the law on our roads is carried out in accordance with the law.

As at now, 19 police officers and one motorist have been apprehended and will be arraigned before court. We are therefore urging all motorists and police officers on traffic duties to understand the consequences of their conduct.

This operation, which will go on indefinitely, underscores our commitment to developing efficiency and professionalism in police work.

The Commissioner of Police will transform the current officers performing this task into a specialized unit to combat corruption and other unethical behavior on the roads.
