Police Headquarters has noted with concern the erroneous story carried in today’s Daily Nation under the headline: Uganda bombs Kenyan camp – AP feared dead in missile mishap.

The story is untrue and baseless. NO Kenyan Administration Police camp was hit by a bomb from Uganda, nor has any Administration Police officer been killed as alleged in the story.

It is both unacceptable and unethical for a reputable newspaper to go ahead and publish such a sensitive story on a purported security situation without attempting to verify information from official sources.

Responsible journalism requires that writers/editors confirm the authenticity of their stories with credible official sources to avoid publishing erroneous and misleading stories.
