This afternoon the vehicle carrying H.E. the former President Daniel Arap Moi was involved in an accident at the escarpment near Lari.

The former President has already been examined at the Nairobi Hospital and is safe. Those who were traveling with him are also safe.

Initial investigations show that the accident occurred when a pickup vehicle lost control and hit the vehicle carrying the former President Moi.

The former president’s car was moving towards Nakuru while the pick up which was carrying farm produce was moving in the Nairobi Area general direction from Kinangop when the accident occurred at 4.15 pm.

The driver of the pick up sustained lower limb fractures while his passenger suffered a cut on the forehead and was complaining of chest pains. Both are undergoing treatment at the Kijabe Mission Hospital.

Police have commenced investigations and more information will be provided as and when new details emerge.
