Police Headquarters would like to inform the public that the following senior Kenya Prisons officers have been arrested:

2. David Gitui Bwana Senior Assistant Commissioner of Prisons: Prisons Headquarters.
3. Ambrose Ogeto Ngare Assistant Commissioner of Prisons: Provincial Prisons Commander Central Province.
4. Peter Njuguna Ngugi Assistant Commissioner of Prisons: O.C. Kamiti Prison.
5. Raphael Mwaluko Munyoli Senior Superintendent of Prisons: O.C. Nyeri Prison.

8. Bernard Ngonini Musee Senior Superintendent: O.C. Nakuru GK Prison.
9. David Mutiria Ikiugu Superintendent: O.C. Meru GK Prison.

The officers have been taken to court and charged with offences relating to withdrawal from duty, incitement and abetting mutiny contrary to section 15 and 63 of the Prisons Act Cap 90 laws of Kenya.

Police Headquarters would like to caution that any person, who directly or indirectly instigates or in any way encourages any prison officer from his allegiance to duty is also guilty of an offence and is liable to imprisonment.

Further, we would like to notify the media that mutinous conduct is a delicate matter of national security and does not lend itself to sensational coverage.
