POST ELECTION VIOLENCE IN KITALE: PROSECUTIONS

Police Headquarters would like to inform the public that investigations into the burning of over 30 houses in Ngatata Farm Endebess on the 13th of January 2008 that investigations are now complete and the following persons will be charged with 12 counts of arson in Kitale law courts this morning.

1. Silas Cherogny
2. Jeff Kipsang Mwanga
3. Andrw Kiprotich Boiyo
4. Francia banan ndiema and
5. Bermnard kibet Kemboi

The five will be charged with willfully and unlawfully setting fire to buildings including food stores and dwelling houses. This is a felony and if found guilty the five are liable to imprisonment for life.

Police Headquarters wishes the public that Kenya Police is determined to ensure that all those persons who committed serious crimes against life and property during the post election protests will have their day in court.
