We bring to the attention of the public a very distressing and unfortunate incident that occurred in Eldoret this morning.

At about 1015 this morning, Hon. David Kimutai Too, who is the MP for Ainamoi and Police Constable Eunice Chepkwony of the Kenya Police attached to Traffic Eldoret were both shot by Constable Andrew Moache also of Eldoret at West Indies Estate in Eldoret.

Unfortunately, Hon. David Kimutai Too died and Constable Eunice Chepkwony later passed away in hospital.

Police Constable Andrew Moache was arrested at Turbo as he attempted to flee and will be transferred to Nakuru. He will be arraigned before court tomorrow for murder of the honorable MP.

I am reliably informed that Constable Eunice Chepkwony was the girl friend of Constable Andrew Moache and we are therefore treating it as a crime of passion. However, the matter will be decided in court.

Following this unfortunate incident, I urge people to remain calm and await the law to take its course in view of the arrest of the suspect. It would be wrong for anyone including politicians to speculate or politicize this unfortunate incident or in any way and incite the public.
