This morning at about 12:30 (00:30) in the morning, Police at Kilimani Police Station received a report that Hon. Mugabe Were arrived at his gate from an unknown destination and rang the bell, As a member of his family was proceeding to the gate to open for him, he heard gunshots outside the gate . When he managed to open the gate, he found the late MP lying by the car with gunshot wounds. The MP was rushed to Nairobi Hospital where he died while undergoing treatment.

Initial investigations indicate this was a case of murder. So far, police have no evidence that the murder was politically motivated. The Commissioner of Police appeals to any person who has any information or other assistance which can facilitate a speedy, professional and transparent investigation to partner with the police to ensure that the criminals who carried out this murder are brought to book.
